Box Score ADA – The East Central University baseball team gave its seniors a great memory for Senior Day, earning a 6-5 win over Southwestern Oklahoma State in the ninth inning to claim the Great American Conference series 2-1 at Tiger Field.

Luc Pomales tallied two hits and the first home run of the second inning. Junior
Casey Chenoweth also tallied two hits, the second home run, scored twice and earned an RBI.
Senior
Robert Buitrago started the game and threw the first five innings, allowing five hits and two runs, while striking out two. Junior
Merrick Ardoin earned the win, throwing the last inning and not allowing a hit or run.
ECU took an early 3-0 lead in the bottom of the second on three home runs to left. Pomales hit his fifth of the season and Chenoweth hit his second, a batter later on the first pitch. After one out, junior
Ty Huie recorded his first home run of the year for a 3-0 lead.
The Bulldogs (20-18, 12-12 GAC) cut the deficit to one in the top of the sixth with two runs and then took a 3-5 lead in the sixth with three runs.
The Tigers were quiet until the bottom of the seventh when they scored one run to cut the disadvantage to one. Pomales led off with a walk, Chenoweth singled and the bases were load when senior
Michael Mariano hit a sacrifice bunt that resulted in an error. Huie hit into a fielder's choice, which put the runner out going home, but senior
Josh Lavender earned an RBI by drawing a bases-loaded walk.
ECU tied the game at five in the bottom of the eighth. Junior
Bryce McKee singled and was sent to second on a wild pitch. Pomales sent him to third with a single and Chenoweth reached on an error that allowed McKee to score.
SWOSU got a leadoff walk in the top of the ninth and the runner moved to third with a sacrifice bunt and a fly to right. However, the last batter popped up to the short stop to avoid the score.
The Tigers then took advantage in the bottom of the night, also earning a leadoff walk to Huie. Lavender advanced the runner with a sacrifice bunt and junior
Andrew Ayrado singled to short, to put runners on first and third. Junior
Nick Spini then hit into a fielder's choice that resulted in Ayrado being thrown out, but Huie was able to score the walk-off run.
ECU will wrap up the home portion of the 2014 season and a nine-game home stand, Tuesday, April 15 when they host St. Gregory's at 3 p.m. at Tiger Field.
