ADA – The East Central University soccer team opened the home portion of the 2014 season with a 2-1 win over Newman in non-conference action at Lady Tiger Field.

Taylor Lowe recorded five saves and allowed one goal in net for ECU.
The teams fought through the first half without a goal being scored and a total of three shots on goal.
The Lady Tigers were the first to get on the scoreboard at the 69-minute mark on the goal from Glutz.  She got a pass up the right side of the field from senior 
Taylor Graves and sent a cross from the right that found the net in the far corner.
Vanlandingham scored the game-winning goal for ECU at 76:03.  She took a pass off a Jets (1-1-1) defender on the left side of the box and sent it past the netminder.
Newman cut the deficit to one with a goal at 87:56, but it was not enough and the Lady Tigers held on for the 2-1 victory.
ECU will remain at home for a non-conference match against Oklahoma Baptist, Friday, Sept. 12 at 4 p.m. at Lady Tiger Field.
