TAHLEQUAH, OKLA. – The East Central University soccer team saw their three-game unbeaten streak come to an end with a 1-2 loss to Northeastern State in non-conference action.
The Lady Tigers (2-3-1) and the Riverhawks (2-1-0) both garnered seven shots on goal in the game, with an equal number of shots taken in each half.
Like the last match out for ECU, the Lady Tigers tallied a quick goal in the opening minutes. This time it was senior
Kristina Gonzalez-Claborn who gave ECU the lead. Gonzalez-Claborn tallied her first goal of the season by being the beneficiary of a bouncing save from the NSU goalkeeper on a corner kick at 3:36.
That is how the score remained until the second half. The Riverhawks then garnered two goals in just over two minutes to take a 1-2 lead. The first goal was scored at 64:23 and the second at 66:35.
Both teams increased their defense in the final minutes of the game, with ECU and NSU each only earning one more shot on goal.
The Lady Tigers will now return home for the final non-conference match of the 2014 season against Lubbock Christian, Sunday, Sept. 21 at 1 p.m. at Lady Tiger Field.
