JOPLIN, MO. – The East Central University men's cross country team had a strong showing at the 2014 Missouri Southern Stampede, placing fourth out of 16 teams.  Redshirt senior Cale Eidson paced the Tigers, earning ninth individually.

ECU placed higher than one of the two NCAA Division I teams in the race (Tulsa/5^th) and well ahead of Southern Arkansas (13^th) from the Great American Conference.

Eidson crossed the finish line in 25:24.30, less than a minute behind the winner (24:32.13).  Junior Juan Joel Pacheco Orozco finished just seconds behind Eidson (25:28.75) for 11^th. 

Senior Kaspars Briska was the third Tiger to finish, earning 27^th in 26:05.55.  Senior Taylor Nasu was 43^rd (26:40/15) and senior Ruganza Mugisha was 55^th (27:04.25) for the ECU runners to claim points for the team.

The Tigers were also represented by freshman Titus Biwott who finished 64^th (27:25.08), sophomore Tyler Baxter in 75^th (27:24.32), senior Miles Mitchell in 87^th (27:53.14), sophomore Noel Figueroa in 95^th (28:01.33), freshman Conrad Carbaugh in 131^st (29:34.79) and redshirt freshman Caleb Biles in 142^nd (30:21.85).

ECU will continue its 2014 season Saturday, Oct. 4 at the Chile Pepper Festival in Fayetteville, Ark.
