WEATHERFORD, OKLA. – The East Central University soccer team was heading toward a second-straight overtime match, but allowed a late goal for a 0-1 loss in the final six minutes against Southwestern Oklahoma State in Great American Conference action.
The Tigers (3-4-2, 0-1-1 GAC) had a slight advantage in shots on goal (6-5), but trailed 9-18 in total shots for the match. Senior
Katie Glutz garnered three shots, all on goal, with three other players recording one shot on goal each.
The teams battled through the first 84 minutes without a goal, before the Bulldogs (1-6-1, 1-0 GAC) earned a goal off a corner at 84:20 to take the late lead.
SWOSU controlled the ball for most of the remaining time, with ECU only getting one shot off that went wide.
The Tigers will continue their five-match road trip, Friday, Oct. 3 at Southern Nazarene. Match time is set for 6 p.m. in Bethany, Okla., and it will be the loan match of the week for ECU.
