ALVA, OKLA. – In the second match of the season against Northwestern Oklahoma State, the East Central University soccer team earned a shutout win over the Rangers (2-10-1, 0-8 GAC), with a 3-0 win in Great American Conference action.
The Tigers (4-9, 3-4 GAC) goalkeeper, freshman
Chloe Hull, recorded her third shutout of the season, stopping two shots. ECU tallied a total of nine shots on goal, with NWOSU earning just two.
The Tigers saw senior
Megan Lantrip, junior
Lexie DeVore and sophomore
Deanna Rudasill all earning two shots on goal each.
DeVore started the scoring for ECU 6:43 into the match when she tallied her third goal of the season, with an assist from Lantrip.
The Tigers increased the pressure in the final three minutes of the first half, scoring two goals in less than 40 seconds. Rudasill garnered the first goal at 42:07 by sending in a header from inside the box.
Freshman
Kendall Smith then earned the first goal of her career at 42:43, to give ECU a 3-0 lead heading into the intermission.
That would be all the scoring in the match, with both teams recording just three combined shots on goal in the second half.
The Tigers will finish up a five-match road trip in their next outing when they travel to Weatherford, Okla., to face league-leading Southwestern, Saturday, Oct. 17 at 11 a.m.
