The Tigers (4-17, 1-10 GAC) were paced by senior Hayley Gerken, who tallied 12 kills, two service aces, five digs and a block assist.  Sophomore Lily Porsa added a team-high 18 digs.

The opening set was a tight battle from start to finish with eight tie scores and one lead change.  The final tie came at 18, when ECU used a 4-1 run to push ahead 22-19.  The Lady Muleriders (13-12, 5-6 GAC) didn't let up and got within one (22-21) before the Tigers were able to push through for the 25-22 win.

The second set was close at the start, but after the first 10 serves SAU started to pull way, using several small runs to push the advantage out to eight.  ECU kept fighting and cut the disadvantage down to three (20-23) near the set of the set, but it was not enough to hold off the 20-25 Muleriders win.

The Tigers took and early 5-3 advantage in the third set, but SAU fought back with a 10-1 run to take a 6-13 lead.  That would be all they would need, as they kept the pressure up in the set and took the 16-25 win.

The final set saw the teams trade the first six serves before SAU took control with a 3-0 run.  The little run was followed by several more throughout the set on the way to the 19-25 win.

ECU will now get ready for a non-conference match against Langston, Tuesday, Oct. 27 at the Kerr Activities Center at 7 p.m.  The match will be followed by ECU Haunted Hoops where the 2015-16 ECU men's and women's basketball teams will be introduced.

The event will include contests and prizes, including a Halloween costume contest.
