MAGNOLIA, ARK. – The East Central University women's basketball team struggled offensively in a 38-58 Great American Conference loss at Southern Arkansas.
The Tigers (14-7, 10-5 GAC) were led by senior
Dilan Webster with 11 points and five rebounds. Sophomore
Jalyn Jackson led ECU with nine rebounds, including five offensive boards.
ECU struggled to get things going right away in the first half and found them down 4-16 halfway through the stanza. The half was low scoring for both teams, with long stretches without a field goal. The Tigers ended the first half down 9-26 after scoring just one point in the final seven minutes of play.
ECU came out ready to fight in the opening half of the second stanza, using a 13-4 run in the first eight minutes to cut the deficit to seven (23-30). However, Muleriders (6-16, 4-12 GAC) countered with an 8-0 run to push the lead back out to double digits where it remained for the rest of the game. SAU kept the pressure up the rest of the game on the way to a 38-58 win.
The Tigers will now look to rebound Saturday, Feb. 14 when they face Ouachita Baptist in Arkadelphia, Ark., at 1 p.m.
