Baseball Falls in Final Inning to Oklahoma Christian

OKLAHOMA CITY, OKLA. – The East Central University baseball team lost a tight 5-6 game to Oklahoma Christian in non-conference road action.

The Tigers (11-8) were led by seniors David Terrazas and Nick Spini, who each recorded two hits, with Terrazas adding two RBIs.

The Eagles (11-9) were the first to get on the scoreboard, taking a 0-2 lead after the first inning.

ECU waited until the fifth inning before getting the goose egg off the scoreboard, earning a single run when senior Casey Chenoweth garnered his second home run of the season.

The Tigers then quickly tied the game at two, with a single run in the sixth inning.  Spini led off the inning with a single and advanced to second on a wild pitch.  He was sent home when Terrazas singled.

Both teams held each other scoreless in the seventh, but ECU took its first lead of the game in the top of the eighth inning, 3-2.  After the first two outs, senior Bryce McKee was walked and then scored with Terrazas doubled.

OCU countered with a run of its own in the bottom of the eight to tie the game at three.

The Tigers then came alive in the top of the ninth inning, taking a 5-3 advantage.  Senior Eric Swann started the inning with a double and was joined on back by senior Dustin Torres when he walked after the first out.  Senior Garrett Donohoe then earned two RBIs with a double of his own.

However, the Eagles responded in the bottom of the ninth, scoring three runs for a 5-6 win.

The Tigers return home to Ken Turner Field, Tuesday, March 17 for a 2 p.m. game against Dallas Christian.
