SHAWNEE, OKLA. – The East Central University baseball team earned a 9-0 shutout win at St. Gregory's in non-conference action.

The Tigers (16-10) were led by senior Bryce McKee, who went 4-for-4 for the day, including a double.  Sophomore Jake Wellington earned the win on the mound, moving to 1-1 on the season.  Wellington came in relief in the fourth inning, throwing two and striking out one.

ECU started the scoring in the second inning, with a single run.  After the first out McKee hit a double to left center and was moved to third by the next batter.  Senior Casey Chenoweth earned the RBI with a single up the middle.

Both teams defense then held for the next two innings before the Tigers pushed ahead to a 3-0 advantage after the top of the fifth.  After one out senior Dustin Torres started things with a double down the left field line.  The bases were then loaded on a single from senior Ty Huie and a walk to senior David Terrazas.

Senior Cale Russell then hit into a fielder's choice, which scored a run and left runners on the corners.  The final run of the inning was scored by McKee with a single to right field.

ECU added two more runs in the top of the seventh to push the lead to 5-0.  Huie led off with a walk and stole second.  He was sent to third on a ground out the Terrazas and then home on a single through the right side by Russell.  Senior Andrew Ayrado then earned the second RBI with a sacrifice fly to right field.

The Tigers continued to produce on offense in the eighth inning, scoring four.  The bases were loaded after two outs by senior Gavin Susca (hit by pitch), a single by Torres and a fielder's choice by Terrazas.  That allowed senior Eric Swann to earn an RBI by drawing a walk.  McKee added two RBIs to his totals with a single to right field.  The final run of the inning was scored on a balk, to make it 9-0.

ECU will now head out on the road for a three-game Great American Conference series at Southern Nazarene, April 3-4.  A single game is set for Friday, April 3 at 2 p.m. and a double-header for Saturday, April 4 at 1 p.m.
