The Tigers (22-13, 19-8 GAC) were led by senior Peyton Watson, who tallied four hits, four runs and three RBIs for a .667 batting average.  Watson was one of five ECU players to record a .500 average or better for the day.

Juniors Marissa Shaffer and Lacey Paulk each earned wins in the circle, with Shaffer earning a complete-game shutout win in the opening game, while allowing just two hits and striking out four.  Paulk threw the second game, allowing seven hits, three runs and striking out four.

The Tigers and the Bulldogs (7-29, 3-21 GAC) will wrap up the four-game Great American Conference series, Saturday, April 10 starting at noon.  ECU will honor its six seniors before the start of the game and will honor the 1995 inaugural softball team between the games.

Game 1 – ECU 12, SWOSU 0 (5)
The score remained scoreless until the bottom of the third when ECU pushed out to a 6-0 lead.  Senior Lacey Williams-Wenholm led off the inning with a single and was followed on base by senior Kayci Snider and senior Kaile Marcum with singles.  That allowed junior Jordynn VanPelt to earn two RBIs with a single up the middle.  Watson followed with an RBI after a double to left.

Senior Lauren Reeves added a run with a sacrifice fly to center.  Senior Samantha McGraw was added to the bases after being hit and was sent home by junior Autumn Suydam with a single to right.  The final run of the inning was then scored on a wild pitch.

The Tigers defense held strong in the top of the fourth and then ECU pushed the game away with six more runs in the bottom of the fourth.  After the first out, Davis and Marcum singled, setting up VanPelt for an RBI with a single.
Watson added a run with another double and Reeves sent a run home with a ground out.  McGraw and junior Taylor Factor were then walked, which allowed Williams-Wenholm to score three with a double to right center.

Game 2- ECU 10, SWOSU 3
The Bulldogs got started early in the second game, scoring a run in the first and two in the second for a 0-3 advantage.

However, when the Tigers got their bats going again they quickly took the lead, 5-3, in the bottom of the third.  Davis drew a walk and then stole second and was sent to third on a ground out by Marcum.  VanPelt earned an RBI with a single and then stole two bases.  Watson got on base after being hit and stole second before Reeves grounded out to score a run.

McGraw added a run with a single and Suydam set a run home with a single to left.  The final run was sent in by Williams-Wenholm with a bunt single.

ECU added two more runs in the bottom of the fourth.  Davis earned a one-out single and was sent to third with a double from Marcum.  VanPelt earned an RBI with a ground out to the pitcher and Watson sent home a second with a double for a 7-3 score.

The Tigers added three more runs in the bottom of the sixth to take a 10-3 lead.  VanPelt started the inning by getting hit by a pitch, Watson singled and after an out McGraw sent two runs home with a single up the middle.

Suydam followed with a walk, Williams-Wenholm reached on a fielder's choice and the bases were loaded when Snider was hit by a pitch.  That allowed Davis to earn at RBI when she was walked.
