ADA – The East Central University baseball team will be battling for one of the two remaining spots in the 2015 Great American Conference Championship this weekend against arch rival Southeastern Oklahoma State. The Tigers and Savage Storm are fighting with Arkansas Tech and Arkansas-Monticello for the final two spots in the six team field.
The games are currently set for a double-header, Saturday, April 25 at 1 p.m. and a single game Sunday, April 26 at 1 p.m. and The Tigers (21-17, 11-11 GAC) will honor their 16 seniors 30 minutes prior to the start of the double-header Saturday.
The Savage Storm come into the series tied with ECU for sixth in the GAC standings with a 15-22 overall record and an 11-11 mark in the GAC. Brandon Grimsley is the top producer for SEOSU at the plate, with a .388 average, 26 runs, 38 hits and 31 RBIs.
The Savage Storm have three key pitchers, with over 45 innings of work each. Brady Colbert is the most effective of the group at 5-3 this season. He has allowed 52 hits and 31 runs, while holding opponents to a .271 batting average and striking out 51.
Last year, the series took place in Durant, with SEOSU taking all three games. Senior
David Terrazas led the Tigers with a .400 average, one run, four hits and an RBI. Senior
Luc Pomales added two runs, four hits and four RBIs.

Oscar Gomez threw six innings in the series, allowing nine hits and three runs, while striking out six.
The Savage Storm were led by returner Cody Coats, with a .455 average, four runs, five hits and six RBIs. Mathew Benedict went 1-0 against ECU in 3.1 innings. He allowed four hits and one run.
Since 1999, the series has been in favor of SEOSU, with ECU holding a 17-47 record. That includes an 11-28 mark at home, with the Tigers having done better in recent years at home. In the last two home series (2012 & 2013), ECU has gone 2-1 each year.
