Senior Taylor Kennedy scored the match-winning goal for the Tigers (1-4), with 6:35 left in the second overtime.

Both teams were evenly matched on the box score with 10 shots on goal, but ECU earned a 10-5 advantage in corners.

"The team fought hard and kept pushing the entire match," said head coach Riley Bailey.  "We created a lot of quality changes and we were able to finish when we needed it."

The Tigers were the first to strike, with senior Kaitie Herrin scoring her first goal of the season at 15:03 in the first half with an assist from senior Megan Lantrip.

The Hillcats (0-5) tied the game at 29:30, but ECU waited less than 10 minutes to regain the lead, with a goal from Lantrip at 38:00.

The Tigers went into the second half with the 2-1 lead and it looked like they would hold on for the win, but RSU knotted the game at two at 76:53.

The teams then had several chances to end the match in regulation, but they forced the match into overtime and then double overtime before a winner could be decided.

After a good chance by senior Peyton Vanlandingham that was just wide, at the 102-minute mark, Kennedy got the ball on the left side of the box and sent it past the Hillcats goalkeeper for the win.

ECU will now have a much needed rest, after three matches in the last five days, before its next match, Friday, Sept. 18 at Lubbock Christian at 2 p.m.
