The opening set was controlled by the Bulldogs (4-3, 1-0 GAC), as they jumped out to a 2-6 advantage and never let ECU get closer than three points the rest of the set on the way to a 13-25 win.
The second set was a back-and-forth battle with 17 tie scores and seven lead changes and took extra points to be decided. The final tie came at 25-all, but an error by the Tigers and a kill from SWOSU gave the set to the Bulldogs, 25-27.
The final set was close at the beginning, but SWOSU pushed out to an eight (8-16) point lead. However, the Tigers didn't give up and used several small runs to force a tie at 23 and again force the set into extra points. But like the second set, the Bulldogs pushed through and took the win 25-27.
ECU recorded its best team hitting percentage of the season at .248 (44k-16e-113ta), but SWOSU out-hit the Tigers with a .357 (50k-10e-112ta) hitting percentage. The Bulldogs also earned a key advantage in blocks at 3-8.
