BETHANY, OKLA. – The East Central University soccer team dropped a 1-4 decision at Southern Nazarene in Great American Conference action.
The Tigers (1-7-1, 1-3 GAC) saw their lone goal of the match come on a penalty shot, the first attempted by ECU on the season and the first since Oct. 31, 2015.
Sophomore
Kendall Cook led the Tigers with three of ECU's six shots on goal for the match, while freshman
Lizette Carreon scored the goal on her lone shot of the match.
Senior
Lexi Hurley started the match for the Tigers, playing 62 minutes, recording six saves and allowing two goals. Sophomore
Kaelee Fretwell played the remaining time in net, seeing her first action of the season, with one save and two goals allowed.
The Crimson Storm (2-7, 1-2 GAC) control the match most of the time recording 11 shots on goal, compared to six by the Tigers.
SNU started the scoring at the 17 minute mark and took the 0-1 advantage into the intermission.
The Crimson Storm added two more goals at 61:44 and 70:57 before ECU got on the scoreboard.
Carreon earned the goal on a penalty kick that went over the right shoulder of the goalkeeper at 79:11.
SNU added one more goal before the end of the match, at 81:45, for the 1-4 final.
The Tigers will now get ready to start a five-match home-stand, Thursday, Oct. 6 when they welcome Ouachita Baptist to Tiger Field for a 2 p.m. kickoff.
