Football Falls at Arkansas Tech

ADA – The East Central University football team suffered a 14-55 loss at Arkansas Tech in Great American Conference action.

The Tigers (1-6 GAC) saw touchdowns from seniors David Moore and Gerald Pickett.  Moore finished the game with 94 reception yards, while Pickett netted 24.

Sophomore Jackson Lamb started the game and went 12-of-20 with a TD and 135 yards, while senior Brooks Holder finished the game and went 11-of-24 with a TD and 100 yards passing.

Senior Jackson Lamb had a strong night on defense for ECU, with an interception, force fumble and eight total tackles (5-3).  Redshirt-freshman Jamil Young added a team-leading 10 (8-2) tackles.

It took less than two minutes to start the scoring, as the Wonder Boys (4-3 GAC) scored their first of three touchdowns in the first quarter, just 1:50 in.  ATU would take a 0-21 lead in the first 11 minutes of the quarter before ECU got on the scoreboard.

Moore scored his ninth TD of the season, this time a 59-yard reception from Lamb to cut the deficit to 6-21 after the extra point was blocked.

The Wonder Boys continued to increase the pressure with two more touchdowns and a field goal in the second quarter to take a 6-38 lead into the locker room.

ATU added another score in the third quarter for a 6-45 advantage with 12:37 left in the quarter.

The Tigers added their final points to the scoreboard at 9:38 in the third on senior Gerald Pickett's first TD of the season.  Pickett caught an 11-yard pass from Holder.  Holder then made a successful rush on the two-point conversion to move the score to 14-45.

The Wonder Boys then added a TD in the third quarter and another field goal in the fourth for a 14-55 final.

ECU will now return home for a Thursday, Oct. 20 game against Harding in the annual Pink Out game sponsored by Mercy Ada at 6 p.m.
