Football’s Scoreless Second Half Leads to Loss to Harding

ADA – A scoreless second half by the East Central University football team allowed No. 7 Harding to gain a 7-35 win at Koi Ishto Stadium in Great American Conference action.

The Tigers (1-7 GAC) were even at seven at the end of the first half and were close in total offense (127-158).  However, the Bisons (8-0) exploded in the second half recording 301 total yards and scoring 28 points to ECU's 15 yards of offense.

The Tigers were led by senior David Moore, with 47 receiving yards and a touchdown, while senior Brooks Holder went 12-of-20 for 95 yards passing.  The leading rusher for ECU was freshman Je'Qualon Wright, with 31 on 12 attempts.

Defensively junior Camnik Campbell led the Tigers with 12 total (2-10) tackles.  Junior Josh Morgan added 11 (6-5) total tackles, while senior Gumaro Murphy tallied seven (3-4) tackles, 1.0 sacks, 2.0 TFL, one forced fumble and two fumble recoveries.

Moore scored his 35th career TD for ECU, catching a 10-yard pass from Holder with 5:35 left in the second quarter to put the Tigers up 7-0.

Harding responded just before the end of the half, getting a touchdown with 26 seconds left on the clock for the seven-all tie.

The third quarter is where things took off for the Bisons, as they scored three touchdowns to take a 7-28 advantage.

Harding added a final touchdown in the fourth quarter for the 7-35 final.

The Tigers will now hit the road for the final time in 2016, traveling to face Arkansas-Monticello, Saturday, Oct. 29 at 3 p.m. in Monticello, Ark.  ECU will then return home for the final two weeks of the season and face Southern Arkansas (Nov. 5) and Southeastern (Nov. 12).
