ADA – The East Central University baseball team will play on the road for the second-straight week, as they head to Arkadelphia, Ark., to face Ouachita Baptist, March 4-5. A single game is set for 2 p.m., Friday, March 4 and a doubleheader will be played Saturday, March 5 starting at noon.
The Tigers are 2-13 overall and 2-3 in the Great American Conference after going 1-2 at Northwestern Oklahoma State last weekend. Junior
Jake McKeel led ECU in the series, hitting .545. McKeel registered four runs, six hits, 10 RBIs, 20 putouts and two assisted outs. Two of McKeel's six hits were home runs, including a grand slam in the opening game.
Sophomore
Kyle Britt earned the win on the mound, throwing 6.1 innings, allowing 11 hits and seven runs and striking out four. Senior
Michael Andrade recorded the save, throwing the final inning, with two Ks.
Ouachita is 4-10 overall and 2-4 in the GAC after going 1-2 against Harding last weekend. OBU is hitting .256 and allowing just a .275 mark.
Ty Owens leads the team with a .300 batting average, six runs, 12 hits and six RBIs. Jakahari Howell adds nine runs, 15 hits and seven RBIs.
Connor is a key name for Ouachita pitchers, with Connor Reed and Connor Eller both throwing over 25 innings. Reed has a 2.13 ERA, 1-3 record and 21 strikeouts to his credit in 25.1 innings of work. Eller has a 2-1 record, 3.14 ERA and 33 Ks in 28.2 innings of actions.
This will be the first time that the teams have faced each other since 2014, as the series in 2015 was washed out due to weather. OBU holds an 8-14 lead in the all-time series after winning the last three games. OBU also holds a 2-7 mark as league opponents and a 4-7 record when playing in Arkadelphia.
