Baseball Falls at Arkansas-Monticello

MONTICELLO, ARK. – The East Central University baseball team dropped a doubleheader to Arkansas-Monticello in Great American Conference action.  The Tigers first fell 2-8 and then 0-5 in the seven-inning game of the day.

ECU was led at the plate by sophomore Jacob Cowling, who tallied two hits and had a .667 batting average.  Senior Kris Molter also added two hits for the day, with an RBI.

The Tigers will now get ready for their final home series of the 2016 season, as they welcome Southern Arkansas to Ken Turner Field, April 22-23.

Arkansas-Monticello 8, East Central 2
The Boll Weevils (26-11, 17-7 GAC) were the first to get on the scoreboard, taking a 0-7 advantage in the second inning.

ECU scored its lone runs in the third inning.  Sophomore Austin LoBue and junior Kodiak O'Ravez started the inning by drawing two-straight walks and the duo ended up on second and third due to a wild pitch.  That allowed Molter to earn an RBI with a sacrifice fly.  After O'Ravez stole third he was sent home on a sacrifice fly by junior Jake MeKeel.

UAM added a run in the bottom of the third for a 2-8 score and the teams battled through the remaining innings scoreless.

Arkansas-Monticello 5, East Central 0
The second game of the day, was all Boll Weevils, as they took an early 0-1 advantage in the second inning. 

UAM added a run in the fourth and fifth innings and two in the sixth for the 0-5 final.
