Box Score DURANT, OKLA. – The East Central University baseball team dropped the first game of a best-of-three Great American Conference Championship Tournament series at Southeastern, 2-5.
The Tigers (16-29) recorded two hits in the game, with one each from juniors
Kodiak O'Ravez and
Trey Mound. Mound added a run scored and an RBI.
Sophomore
Brandon Dusenberry started the game, striking out six batters and allowing five hits and four runs (one earned) in six innings. Sophomore
Shae Edmonds finished the game, striking out one and allowing two hits and a run.
ECU started the scoring in the top of the second inning, with two runs. Junior
Kaleb Matthews led off the inning by drawing a walk and scored on Mound's double to left center. After the first two outs, sophomore
Austin LoBue reached due to an error, which allowed Mound to score for the 2-0 advantage.
The Savage Storm (28-22) cut into the advantage in the bottom of the inning with a single run, before the teams shut each other down for the next two innings.
However, it was Southeastern that would score the remaining runs of the game, taking a 3-2 lead with two runs in the fifth and adding runs in the sixth and eighth for the 2-5 score.
The teams will wrap up the series, Saturday, May 7 in Durant, with the first two win two games advancing to the 2016 GAC Championship Finals. The first game is set to start at 12 p.m., with the if-necessary game to follow.
