ADA – The East Central University volleyball team fought through for a 3-2 (15-25, 25-21, 19-25, 25-12, 15-8) win over Oklahoma Baptist in Great American Conference action at the Kerr Activities Center.

The win moved the Tigers to 4-10 overall and 2-0 in the GAC, while also handing the Bison (9-8, 3-1 GAC) their first league loss of the season.
ECU was paced by junior
Madyson Gill, with a .500 (22k-2e-40ta) hitting percentage, three service aces, 10 digs and four (1-3) blocks. Junior
Taylor Turner earned a double-double in the match, with 49 assists and 13 digs. Junior
Kaci Harrison also added a double-double, with 11 kills and 23 digs.
The opening set was close at the start with the teams battling to a six-all tie. The Tigers took the first lead, with a 4-0 run (9-6), but saw OBU take control with a 9-0 run (9-15). The teams traded serves and runs for the rest of the set, but the advantage allowed the Bison to earn the 15-25 win.
The second set saw the teams trade runs and points through the middle of the set, resulting in five tie scores and two lead changes. With the set knotted at 16, the Tigers took control of the momentum with a 6-0 run for the 21-16 lead. The teams traded the final few serves, but ECU had enough of a lead to claim the 25-21 win.
The first six serves in set three resulted in a 3-3 tie. That is when the Bison took control, going on a 12-6 run for a 9-15 lead. OBU kept pushing the momentum in the set and claimed the 19-25 win.
ECU took early control of set four, jumping out to a 5-2 lead. The Tigers never let up and forced the fifth-and-deciding set with a 25-12 win.
The Bison earned the first two points in set five, but ECU countered with a 9-2 run to take control for good. The Tigers kept fighting and didn't allow OBU to score more than two points in a row the rest of the set to earn the set and match win 15-8.
ECU will continue its busy week with a Thursday, Sept. 29 match at Southern Nazarene at 7 p.m. The Tigers end the week at home when they host Northwestern (Sept. 30/7 p.m.) and Southwestern (Oct.1/2 p.m.).
