ALVA, OKLA. – The East Central University soccer team fell to Northwestern Oklahoma State, 2-1, in Great American Conference action on the road.
The Tigers (5-5-2, 2-2-2 GAC) were out shot by the Rangers (4-9-1, 3-5 GAC) 12-5 for the match, with four players earning a shot on goal for ECU.
Sophomore
Lizette Carreon scored the goal for the Tigers and recorded two shots on goal. Junior
Chloe Hull played in net for ECU and recorded 10 saves.
The teams battled through a scoreless first half before NWOSU got on the scoreboard at the 58-minute mark.
The Rangers held the lead until the final 10 minutes of the match when the Tigers were awarded a penalty shot at 84:52 after a penalty in the box.
Carreon took the penalty kick for ECU and sent the ball in to the right of the goalkeeper to tie the game at one.
However, NWOSU didn't stop fighting, as they scored again at 87:49 to earn the 2-1 victory.
ECU will finish up their five-match road trip, Saturday, Oct. 14 at 11 a.m. when they travel to face Southwestern Oklahoma State in Weatherford, Okla.
