Soccer Draws 2-2 Double Overtime Tie at Southwestern

WEATHERFORD, OKLA. – The East Central University soccer team pick up a key 2-2 double-overtime tie at Southwestern Oklahoma State in Great American Conference action.  The point earned helped the Tigers (5-5-3, 2-2-3 GAC) move into a three-way tie for fourth-place in the GAC standings, heading into the final two weeks of regular season action.

ECU net minder, junior Chloe Hull tallied 13 saves in the tie and allowed two goals.  Sophomore Lizette Carreon and freshman Allie Verner both tallied two shots on goal for the day, of the Tiger's seven, while Carreon and freshman Courtney Tracy earned garnered a goal.

The Bulldogs (7-3-3, 4-1-3 GAC), who are currently in second in the GAC standings, scored two first half goals to garner the lead.  SWOSU scored the first goal at 21:26 and then added the second at 42:03.

While it took ECU until the second half to score, when they got started they tallied two goals five minutes apart.  The first goal came at 53:04 from Carreon.  She tallied the goal on a penalty kick, marking the second-straight match that she tallied a penalty kick for the Tigers.

Exactly five minutes later, Tracy tied the match at two, with an unassisted goal.  She sent in a routine shot that went in under the goalie's hands.

The Bulldogs earned one shot on goal in the extra periods, but the Tigers held on for the 2-2 tie.

ECU will return home after five-straight road matches.  The Tigers will play the three of the next four matches at home, starting with a battle against league-leading Oklahoma Baptist, Thursday, Oct. 19 at 4 p.m.
