SEARCY, ARK. – The East Central University soccer team battled to a 1-1 tie at Harding in Great American Conference action.
The Tigers (4-4-2, 1-1-2 GAC) saw the goal in the match scored by sophomore
Alexis Castillo, while she also tallied three of ECU's seven shots on goal in the match. Junior
Chloe Hull ended the match with six saves.
The teams battle was seen in the scoresheet, with both teams earning seven shots on goal and the goalkeepers netting six saves. The Bisons (3-6-4, 2-3-1 GAC) out-shot the Tigers overall (28-17).
Harding got on the scoreboard at 33:55 in the first half to take the lead. The teams battled through the half, with each goalkeeper earning two saves, but the Bisons held on to the 1-0 lead.
ECU responded in the second half to tie the game at one, 61:59 into the match. Castillo sent a free kick from 35-yards out through the goalie's hands.
The teams battled through the end of regulation to force the extra sessions. While Harding earned a one shot (2-3) advantage in the second half, the Tigers regained the momentum with a 2-1 lead during the second overtime.
The Tigers will remain on the road for the next three matches, with the next stop being in Arkadelphia, Ark., Saturday, Oct. 7 at 3 p.m. to face Ouachita Baptist.
