ADA – The East Central University volleyball team fell to No. 18 Arkansas Tech, 3-0 (23-25, 15-25, 12-25) in Great American Conference action at the Kerr Activities Center.
The Tigers (4-15, 0-6 GAC) were paced by seniors 
Madeline Mayer and 
Alex Campbell, each with six kills.  Mayer hit .375 (6k-0e-16ta) for the day, with one service ace and three block assists.  Campbell added a .200 average (6k-2e-20ta) and four block assists.  Seniors 
Lily Porsa and 
Micah Rogers each tallied over 10 digs, with 14 by Porsa and 11 by Rogers.
ECU earned one advantage on the box score, earning nine blocks to the Golden Suns (19-0, 6-0 GAC) four.
The Tigers jumped out to an early advantage in the first set, going up 3-0.  ECU kept pushing and led by as many as six (10-6) before ATU pushed back and cut the deficit to two (11-9).  The Tigers held on to the lead until late in the set, with the Golden Suns used a 6-0 run to tie the set at 20 and take a 22-20 advantage.  ECU kept fighting and the teams traded the next four serves before ATU earned the final two points for the 25-23 victory.
The teams traded the first 10 serves of set two, before the Golden Suns took control for good.  ATU pushed the lead to as many as 10 in the set on the way to the 25-15 win.
The beginning of set three was again close with five ties and three lead changes in the first 16 serves.  However, that is when the Golden Suns used a 9-1 run to gain a 19-9 lead.  ATU allowed the Tigers to score just three more points the rest of the set and earned the 25-12 win.
ECU will be back in action again early, Saturday, Oct. 7 for a 10 a.m. match against Harding.  The match is the annual Pink Out! match to support breast cancer awareness.  The match will be followed by the ECU vs. Northwestern football game at Koi Ishto Stadium at 2 p.m.
