ADA – The East Central University volleyball team fell in four sets 3-1 (19-25, 25-19, 23-25, 14-25) to Harding in Great American Conference action at the Kerr Activities Center.

The Tigers (4-16, 0-6 GAC) were paced by senior
Alex Campbell, with 11 kills, a .258 (11k-3e-31ta) average, five digs and two block assists. Senior
Lily Porsa led the defense with 24 digs, while sophomore
Macy Kurtz added three service aces and 12 digs.
The opening set started as a back-and-forth battle, with seven ties and six lead changes in the first 26 serves. After a 13-all tie the Bisons (17-2, 6-1 GAC) went on a 4-1 run to take control of the set for good and pushed on for the 25-19 win.
ECU exploded out of the gates in the second set, going up 11-1, with Porsa serving. The Tigers held on to the advantage all the way through the set, but did let Harding fight back within two (21-19) late in the set before claiming the 25-19 win.
The third set was close from start to finish, with six ties and three lead changes. The final tie came at 23-all, but the Bisons were able to claim the final two points needed to earn the 25-23 win.
The teams traded the first eight serves of the final set, but that is when Harding started a 4-1 run to earn the lead for good. The Bisons pushed the lead out to as many as 11 through the set and claimed the set 25-14.
The Tigers will now hit the road for the next three matches, starting with a stop in Arkadelphia, Ark., next weekend to face Ouachita and Henderson State. ECU will battle Ouachita, Friday, Oct. 13 at 7 p.m. and Henderson State, Saturday, Oct. 14 at 2 p.m.
