ADA – The East Central University baseball team will hit the road for the first Great American Conference series of the 2017 season, Feb. 24-25 at Southern Arkansas. A single game is on the schedule for Friday, Feb. 24 at 2 p.m. and a double-header for Saturday, Feb. 25 at 12 p.m.
The Tigers (2-8, 2-1 GAC) are coming off the opening league weekend where they went 2-1 against Arkansas-Monticello at Ken Turner Field. ECU picked up wins in games one and three and lost by just one run in the second game of the series.

Dalton Etheredge had a strong weekend for the Tigers, hitting .833, with two runs, five hits and two RBIs. Senior
Trevor Huie also had a solid performance, with a .444 average, four runs, four hits, two home runs and eight RBIs.

Dylan Sanchez claimed the wins on the mound for ECU. Dusenberry threw 7.0 innings, allowed five hits and three runs and struck out seven. Sanchez added five Ks, with six hits and five runs allowed in 5.0 innings of work.
The Muleriders are 6-3 overall and 3-0 in the GAC after a sweep of Southeastern on the road last weekend. The games against the Tigers will be SAU's first home games of the season.
The Muleriders are hitting .295 for the season, with five players hitting over .300 for the year. Mark Fontenot is the top producer at the plate, with a .440 average, four runs, 11 hits, three home runs and 11 RBIs.
Of the 12 pitchers who have seen action, three have throwing over 10 innings this season. Dalton Algiene has a 2-1 record, 1.69 ERA, 14 hits and four runs allowed and 20 strikeouts in 16.0 innings of work. Kenneth Tabor adds a 2-0 record, 14 strikeouts, 14 runs and 19 hits allowed.
