ADA – The East Central University baseball team is making the short trip to Bethany, Okla., to battle with Southern Nazarene in the final regular-season road series of the 2017 season. The teams will play three games, April 22-23. A single game is set for Saturday, April 22 at 3 p.m. and a doubleheader Sunday, April 23 at 1 p.m.
The Tigers are 9-26 overall and 8-19 in the league and are now ninth in the Great American Conference standings, with two weeks left to play. ECU went 0-3 last weekend against Oklahoma Baptist, with senior
Kodiak O'Ravez leading the team with a .500 average, five hits, two runs and an RBI.
The Crimson Storm come into the series with a 5-36 overall record and a 3-24 mark after winning a non-conference mid-week game against Northwestern State. SNU went 0-3 in their last GAC series against Southeastern.
The Crimson Storm have a .247 team batting average, while allowing a .328 mark on the season. Tyler Stevens leads the team with a .306 average, 41 hits, 24 runs and 23 RBIs.
SNU has a large pitching staff, with 14 different players recording at least one inning of action. David Gustafson leads the team with 58.0 innings. He has a 0-8 record, 6.05 ERA, allowed 64 hits and 51 runs and struck out 51.
Since 1999, the teams have met on 18 previous occasions, with SNU holding a 10-8 lead in the series and a 7-1 record when playing in Bethany. However, the Tigers own a 7-5 mark in league play.
