Women’s Basketball Drops Heartbreaker to Southwestern

ADA – In the first home and Great American Conference game of the 2018-19 season, the East Central University women's basketball team dropped a tight game to Southwestern Oklahoma State, 79-76, at the Kerr Activities Center.

  • First Quarter: 14-13
    • The Bulldogs (4-1, 1-0 GAC) went up 10-2 in the first two minutes
    • The Tigers (3-2, 0-1 GAC) followed with a 12-2 run over the next 7:30 for a 14-12 lead
  • Second Quarter: 25-22 (39-35)
    • In the first five minutes, ECU built the advantage to nine (27-18)
    • The advantage stayed between 8-10 points over the next two minutes (36-26)
    • SWOSU then used a 9-3 run in the remaining time to cut the lead to four at the half
  • Third Quarter: 17-19 (56-54)
    • Things were close for the first six minutes with the advantage between one and four
    • The Bulldogs earned their first lead since the first quarter (48-47), with 4:17 left
    • The Tigers regained the advantage in the final four minutes, with a 9-6 run
  • Fourth Quarter: 20-25
    • ECU pushed the advantage to six (60-54) in the first minute
    • SWOSU then took control, using a 10-2 run in the next four minutes to gain a 64-62 lead
    • The teams toggled back-and-forth between a 1-5-point lead for the Bulldogs
    • The final two minutes is where SWOSU took over for good
      • Used an 8-6 run to earn the win
