MELISSA, TEXAS – The East Central University baseball team fell 10-1 to Southern Arkansas in the final game of the Great American Conference series at the Melissa Sports Facility.

The Tigers (1-12, 0-6 GAC) were led by junior Marcus Sonnier, who tallied two hits.  Senior Connor Stevenson record the lone run and RBI for the game, with a solo home run.

Senior Joe Cooney started the game on the mound and suffered the loss, while senior Kiyaanii Bohan finished the final 3.0 innings and earned two strikeouts.

The Muleriders (10-4, 5-1 GAC) started the scoring early, netting two runs in the first innings.  SAU added five in the third and three in the fourth for a 10-0 lead.

ECU got its lone run of the game in the bottom of the seventh inning, while Stevenson hit a home run over the fence in left center.

The Tigers will next be in action next weekend against Southwestern Oklahoma State, as their Tuesday, Feb. 27 game vs. Lyon was canceled.  The series is currently schedule to be played at Ken Turner Field, but stay tuned to www.ecutigers.com for updates as they become available.
