ALVA, OKLA. – The East Central University baseball team dropped the final two games of the Great American Conference series with Northwestern Oklahoma State. The Tigers (1-18, 0-12 GAC) fell 9-2 in the opening game and then 7-1 in the finale.
ECU was led by senior
Bryce Dimitroff, with a .500 average, three hits and two runs.
ECU will now get ready to face Oklahoma Baptist, Tuesday, March 13 at 2 p.m. at Ken Turner Field. The game will be the first home game of the year for the Tigers and will be a non-conference game.
NWOSU 9, ECU 2
The Rangers (12-11, 6-6 GAC) got started early, scoring three runs in the bottom of the third and then two in the third for a 5-0 advantage.
Both teams held each other scoreless for the next four innings, before both earned runs in the eighth.
The Tigers started things off with two runs in the top of the inning to cut the disadvantage to 5-2. After the first out, Senior
Zach Trueblood doubled and advanced to third when Dimitroff singled. Junior
Marcus Sonnier then earned an RBI with a singled through the left side.
Junior
Josh Lincoln kept the inning going with a fielder's choice that left runners on the corners. The second run of the inning then scored when junior
Yan-Eric Tremblay reached due to an error.
NWOSU countered with four runs in the fourth to push the lead to 9-2. The Tigers got runners on in the top of the ninth, but were unable to get a run across the plate for the 9-2 final.
NWOSU 7, ECU 1
The Rangers were again the first to get on the scoreboard, with three runs in the bottom of the third.
The Tigers cut into the disadvantage with a run in the fourth. Dimitroff doubled and scored when sophomore
Cale Ridling scored due to an error.
NWOSU got the run back an inning later for a 4-1 score. The Rangers also added three runs in the sixth for the 7-1 final
