Baseball Set to Host Henderson State

ADA – After playing seven of the last eight games on the road the East Central University baseball team will wrap up their Spring Break at Ken Turner Field, March 23-24.  The Tigers (2-22, 1-14 GAC) will host Henderson State for a three-game Great American Conference series, with a single game set for Friday, March 23 at 1 p.m. and a doubleheader starting at noon, Saturday, March 24.

ECU is currently being led by seniors Bryce Dimitroff and Trevor Crone at the plate.  Dimitroff has a .330 average, 30 hits, 11 runs, seven doubles, a home run and 10 RBIs, while Crone adds a .321 average, 25 hits, 16 runs, five doubles, a triple, four home runs and 16 RBIs.

Sophomore Wyatt Austin picked up a win and junior Yan-Eric Tremblay a save last weekend against Ouachita.  Austin threw 1.2 innings, allowing two hits and a run, while striking out two.  Tremblay pitched the final inning of the game, allowing no hits or runs to secure the Tigers 11-10 win.

The Reddies swept Southeastern in their last GAC series and then fell to Mississippi College in a non-conference games Tuesday to move to 16-10 overall and 11-4 in the league.  HSU has done a good job on the road this season, winning seven of their 10 away games.

Jordan Harris and Daniel Colasanto are the batting leaders for the Reddies.  Harris has a .347 average, 33 hits, 22 runs and 15 RBIs, while Colasanto adds a .333 average, 11 hits, five runs and five RBIs.

HSU has a 14-member pitching staff this season, with Bryant Haralson and Zach Eschberger being the only two with over 40 innings of work.  Haralson has thrown 52.0 innings, with a 3-2 record, a shutout, 43 hits and 25 runs allowed, with 48 Ks.  Eschberger adds a 4-1 record, 38 hits and 27 runs allowed and 32 strikeouts in 41.2 innings.

Since 2000, the Tigers and the Reddies have played 21 times, with HSU leading 15-6 overall, 12-6 in the GAC and the teams are tied at three games each when playing in Ada.

After the weekend games, ECU will make the short trip to Shawnee, Okla., for the second of two non-conference games against Oklahoma Baptist, Tuesday, March 27 at 6 p.m.
