ADA – The East Central University baseball team will be on the road for the next two Great American Conference series, starting with three games in Alva, Okla., against Northwestern Oklahoma State. The teams are currently slated to play a single game Friday, March 9 (7 p.m.) and a double-header Saturday, March 10 (12/3 p.m.).
The Tigers (1-15, 0-9 GAC) are currently being led by senior
Marcus Sonnier, with a .357 average, 10 hits, six runs and eight RBIs. Sophomore
Dakota Washington leads the team with 11 RBIs, while seniors
Connor Stevenson and
Bryce Dimitroff have each tallied 10.
The Rangers come into the game with a 9-11 overall record and a 3-6 mark in league action. As a team NWOSU is hitting .297 and only allowing a .289 average by their opponents. The Ranger pitching staff has also earned a 6.36 combined ERA for the season, while only allowing a 6.13.
NWOSU is being led at the plate by Judah Zickafoose, with a .386 average, 17 hits, 16 runs, two doubles, five home runs and 14 RBIs. Walker Wharton leads the pitching staff with a 2.11 ERA and 4-0 record in 38.1 innings of work. He has allowed 29 hits, 10 runs and struck out 25 batters.
ECU leads the all-time series with the Rangers 15-9 overall, 8-7 when playing as league opponents and 7-6 when playing at Glass Family Field at Myers Stadium.
