ALVA, OKLA. – The East Central University baseball team fell 7-5 in the opening game of a three-game Great American Conference series with Northwestern at Glass Family Field at Myers Stadium.
The Tigers (1-16, 0-10 GAC) were led by senior
Bryce Dimitroff and junior
Yan-Eric Tremblay, with each netting two hits.
Junior
Logan Lannon threw a complete game, striking out six and allowing seven 12 hits and seven runs (two earned).
The Rangers (10-11, 4-6 GAC) got on the scoreboard first, with a run in the first, two in the second and one in the third for a 4-0 advantage.
ECU cut into the deficit in the fourth, with three runs. Dimitroff started the inning with a double and Tremblay was walked. That allowed sophomore
Cale Ridling to earn three RBIs with a home run to center field.
NWOSU responded in the bottom of the fifth adding three runs for a 7-3 lead.
The Tigers pushed back in the seventh, scoring two runs for a 7-5 score. Senior
Trevor Crone started the inning with a double and advanced to third on a wild pitch. That allowed him to score when senior
Connor Stevenson reached due to an error.
Junior
Josh Lincoln was walked and Tremblay singled to load the bases. Stevenson was able to put a run on the board with a wild pitch for the 7-5 score.
Both teams got runners on base in the final two innings, but no more runs crossed the plate for the 7-5 final.
The teams will wrap up the three-game GAC series, with a double-header starting Saturday, March 10 at 12 p.m.
