ADA – The East Central University baseball team fell 14-6 in the first game of the Great American Conference series with archrival Southeastern Oklahoma State.
The Tigers (5-35, 4-26 GAC) recorded four home runs on the day, the most in a single game this season. Senior
Bryce Dimitroff and sophomore
Cale Ridling each tallied two RBIs and a home run, while senior
Trevor Crone and freshman
Dillon Mansell also added home runs.
The Savage Storm started the scoring in the bottom of the first inning, taking 4-0 lead.
ECU responded with two runs in the second and a run in the third to cut the deficit to 4-3. Both of the runs in the second inning came on solo home runs by Crone and Mansell. In the third the run came after junior
Josh Lincoln doubled and advanced to third on a pass ball. That allowed Ridling to earn the RBI with a sacrifice fly.
However, Southeastern made a statement in the fourth, scoring eight runs for a 12-3 lead.
The Tigers were able to net two runs in the fifth for a 12-5 score. Freshman
Garrett Oldham was walked and scored when Dimitroff hit a home run.
ECU then added another run in the seventh on a solo home run by Ridling (12-6).
The Savage Storm then added two more runs in the eighth inning for a 14-6 final.
The teams will wrap up the final two games of the series, Saturday, April 27 with a doubleheader starting 1p.m. in Durant, Okla.
