Women’s Basketball Rushes Past Southern Arkansas

MAGNOLIA, ARK. – The East Central University women's basketball team kept the wins coming, claiming a 76-55 victory over Southern Arkansas, in the first road game since Dec. 9, 2018.

Scoring
  • First Quarter: 28-14
    • Scoring started on the Tigers' (10-3, 5-2 GAC) first possession of the game
    • The Muleriders (1-12, 0-7 GAC) made an early push and scored the next four points
      • 3-4 (8:42) remaining
    • ECU then took over using a 17-2 run over the next four minutes
      • The Tigers led: 20-6
    • The teams traded points the rest of the quarter for the 14-point advantage
  • Second Quarter: 14-13 (42-27)
    • The teams battled evenly throughout the quarter
    • ECU earned the slight advantage with one more field goal
  • Third Quarter:19-14 (61-41)
    • The Tigers started with an 8-2 run in the first three minutes (50-33)
    • SAU fought back, but was unable to get closer than 15 points the rest of the stanza
    • ECU finished the final 3:30 minutes on an 8-2 run to push the lead out to 61-38 (+23)
      • The Muleriders points did not come until the final two seconds on free throws
  • Fourth Quarter: 15-14
    • SAU did not score a field goal from the 3:30 mark in the third quarter
      • Streak ran until 4:15 remained in the fourth stanza
        • Tallied four free throws during the span
      • During the span during this quarter the Tigers went on a 14-3 run
    • The Muleriders finished the final four minutes with a 11-1 run
