Women’s Basketball Comes Up Just Short at West Texas A&M

CANYON, Texas – The East Central University women's basketball finished its fourth-straight non-conference road game of the year, falling at West Texas A&M, 62-60.

Scoring
  • 1st Quarter: 8-13
    • The Lady Buffs (4-2) started the game on a 5-0 run in the first three minutes
    • WATMU pushed the lead out to as many as seven, but the Tigers (1-3) cut the deficit back to five before the end of the stanza
  • 2nd Quarter: 17-9 (25-22)
    • The Lady Buffs used a 5-4 run in the first 1:30 minutes to take an 18-12 advantage
    • That is when ECU fought back
      • Used a 13-4 run to end the quarter
  • 3rd Quarter: 25-17 (50-39)
    • WTAMU came out strong in the first two minutes of the second half and tied the score at 28
    • The Tigers countered with a 13-3 run to take a 10-point lead (41-31)
      • Kept the advantage between 6-11 points the rest of the stanza
  • 4th Quarter: 23-10
    • Increased the lead to 14 in the opening two minutes of the quarter
    • The Lady Buffs then started its comeback
      • Went on a 17-2 run over the next six minutes to take a 57-56 lead
    • Teams traded shots in the remaining time, with three late free throws being the difference
