Men’s Basketball Suffers First Loss of 2019-20 Season

WEATHERFORD, Okla. – The East Central University men's basketball team saw their first loss of the 2019-20 season, falling at Southwestern Oklahoma State, 95-86 in Great American Conference action.

Scoring
  • 1st Half: 38-56
    • The Bulldogs (3-2, 1-0 GAC) opened the game on a 5-0 run in the first 2:20 of the game
    • The Tigers (3-1, 0-1 GAC) quickly cut the deficit to four
    • SWOSU kept up the pressure and kept an advantage for the entire stanza
    • With 13:37 left, ECU started a comeback
      • Started an 8-2 run over a two-minute span to take a 21-19 advantage
    • The Bulldogs countered with an 8-0 run to regain control
    • SWOSU continued to increase the pressure and go the lead out to as many as 20 late in the stanza
  • 2nd Half:
    • The game was close through the first 7:30 minutes
    • The Tigers then started an 11-3 run to cut the deficit to 11, with 9:40 left on the clock
    • ECU kept fighting and cut the disadvantage to nine (71-80), with just under seven minutes' left
    • The teams traded points and small runs the rest of the game, but the Tigers could not get closer than six
