Women’s Basketball Falls in Final Non-Conference Game of 2019-20

FORT SMITH, Ark. – The East Central University women's basketball team fell 60-55 in their final non-conference game of the 2019-20 season at Arkansas-Fort Smith.

Scoring

  • 1st Quarter: 8-15
    • The Lions (4-3) jumped out to an early 4-0 advantage in the first 2:30 minutes
    • The Tigers (2-6) hit a three with 7:28 to get as close they would get in the stanza
    • UAFS followed with an 11-0 run until 1:32 remained
    • Both teams hit 3's in the final minute
  • 2nd Quarter: 19-12 (27-27)
    • ECU slowly climbed back into the game
      • Used an 8-3 run to get within three (15-18), with 6 minutes remaining
    • The Tigers kept up the pressure and took a 26-22 advantage, with 1:17 left on the clock
      • 6-0 run in a minute span to start the run
    • The Lion's didn't give up and were able to come back with a 5-1 run to tie the game at 27
  • 3rd Quarter: 15-11 (42-38)
    • Teams traded shots to a 31-all tie, with 8:35 left
    • ECU then went on an 8-2 run over the next 6 minutes to take a 39-33 lead
    • UAFS used a 5-3 run in the final time to get back within four
  • 4th Quarter: 13-22
    • The Lions kept the disadvantage around 4-6 points through the first 4:30 minutes
    • UAFS cut the deficit to one (50-49), with 5:06 remaining
      • The Lions kept up the pressure and regained the lead (54-53), with a 7-3 run
    • No team scored for a minute
      • Only free throws scored in the final 2 minutes
    • UAFS kept the lead going 7-of-8 from the charity stripe
      • Held the Tigers to just a 2-of-4 mark
