Women’s Basketball Second Half Surge Secures Win Over Oklahoma Baptist

ADA, Okla. – After trailing by 12 at the half, the East Central University women's basketball team surged back to earn a 69-59 Great American Conference victory over Oklahoma Baptist in the Kerr Activities Center.

Scoring
  • 1st Quarter: 14-19
    • The first four minutes of the stanza resulted in a 7-all tie
    • Both teams went scoreless for the next 1:30
    • The Bison (3-5, 0-3 GAC) then went on an 8-0 run in the next two minutes to gain an 8-point advantage
    • OBU pushed the lead to 9 (19-10), with 1:34 remaining
    • The Tigers (3-6, 1-2 GAC) followed with a 4-0 run in the final minutes to cut the lead to five
  • 2nd Quarter: 7-14
    • The teams traded shots in the first 1:15 and then went cold for the next three minutes
    • The Bison went on a 7-2 run to push the advantage to 10, with 2:43 left on the clock
    • OBU kept up the pressure and were able to push the lead to 12 with 3 seconds left to play
  • 3rd Quarter: 18-16
    • The Bison held the lead between 7-12 points for the first 7 minutes of the stanza
    • ECU countered with a 4-0 run over the next 2 minutes to get the deficit back to 6
    • OBU regained the momentum and got the lead back to 10 at the end of the quarter
  • 4th Quarter: 30-10
    • The Tigers started to push the tempo right at the start of the quarter
      • Cut the deficit to 5 in the first minute
    • The Bison lead by 7 (51-44), with 7 minutes remaining
    • ECU then went on a 14-2 run over the next 5 minutes to gain a 5-point advantage
    • The lead remained around 5 until the final minute
    • The Tigers then pushed ahead again with a 7-2 run in the remaining time to push the lead to as many as 12
      • All of points came at the free-throw line in the final 1:10 (ECU - 9, OBU -2)
