Baseball to Start GAC Action

Senior Ryan White awaits a pitch at the plate.
ADA, OKLA. – The East Central University baseball team will have a busy week, traveling to Oklahoma Baptist (non-conference), Tuesday, Feb. 12 for a 5 p.m. game and then hitting the road for the first Great American Conference series of the 2019 season at Southwestern, Feb 15-16.  The Tigers (0-7) will play a single game, Friday, Feb. 15 at 2 p.m. and then a doubleheader, Saturday, Feb. 16 starting at 1 p.m.

Tuesday's game will be the second in a row against the Bison, after falling 11-1 in the final game of the Alpine Fresh 4-Him Classic last weekend.  This game was originally scheduled to be played at Ken Turner Field, but due to poor field conditions the game was forced to be moved to Shawnee, Okla.  That also changes the game set to be played at OBU, March 26 to a home game in Ada at 2 p.m.

The Tigers and the Bisons faced each other five times last season, with OBU earning a win in all five.  ECU trails 4-20 in the all-time series, but trials just 4-6 when playing on the road.  The last win for the Tigers came, April 2, 2016 in Shawnee.

In 2018, ECU fell in all three games against the Bulldogs on the road, after the series was forced to be switched due to weather.  The Tigers trail 31-40 in the all-times series, 29-28 when playing as conference opponents and 15-22 when playing in Weatherford, Okla.
