Women’s Basketball Picks Up Key Victory at Southeastern

DURANT, OKLA. – The East Central University women's basketball team kept its advantage in the Great American Conference standings over arch rival Southeastern Oklahoma State, with a 61-50 victory and swept the series for the season.

Scoring
  • First Quarter: 18-13
    • The teams traded points, with the Tigers (16-7, 11-6 GAC) take an advantage with early triples
    • The Savage Storm (11-10, 9-8 GAC) took a one-point lead (13-12), with 1:53 left
    • ECU then went on a 6-0 run to end the stanza
  • Second Quarter: 16-15 (34-28)
    • SE was able to get the deficit down to three in the first two minutes, but could not get closer
    • The Tigers kept the lead between 3-6 the rest of the half
  • Third Quarter: 21-16 (55-44)
    • The teams traded points in the first 2:30 minutes
    • ECU then went on a 6-0 run to push the lead to 10 (42-32), with seven minutes remaining
    • For the next four minutes the Savage Storm would cut the lead to seven and then see it move back to 10
    • In the final 3:10, the Tigers went on a 7-4 run to push the lead to as many as 15
  • Fourth Quarter: 6-6
    • The teams traded points and scoreless streaks in the final stanza
