Men’s Basketball Picks Up Win on Senior Day

ADA, OKLA. – The East Central University men's basketball team earned a 77-69 victory over Southern Arkansas on the annual Senior Day, to honor seniors Da'Rion King and Jamey Woods, at the Kerr Activities Center.

Scoring
  • First Half: 36-31
    • The teams traded the first two shots
    • The Tigers (16-9, 13-7 GAC) then went on an 11-2 run through the first six minutes
    • The Muleriders (18-8, 13-7 GAC) countered with a 7-0 run to cut the deficit to four, with 12:21 remaining
    • The teams kept trading runs through the first 10:30 minutes, with ECU leading 20-15
    • SAU then took its first lead (24-22) after a 5-2 run (7:24)
    • The Tigers quickly tied the game at 24 and took a 27-24 advantage, with 5:32 left to play
    • The Muleriders then took a 29-27 advantage (last lead of the stanza), with five minutes left in the half
    • ECU finished the stanza on a 9-2 run
  • Second Half: 41-38
    • The teams traded shots through the first six minutes to keep the advantage around five points
    • SAU then cut the deficit to two (48-46), with 11:31 left on the clock
    • The teams again traded shots for the next four minutes before the Muleriders were able to cut the lead to one (55-54)
    • Things were tight for the next three minutes, with ties at 61 and 63 (4:19)
    • ECU then took control with a 6-0 run in the next minute
    • The Muleriders were able to get within three (71-68), with 1:43 left on the clock
    • The Tigers finished the game on a 6-1 run to secure the win
      • In the final three minutes Sr. Da'Rion King scored six of ECU's 10 points
