Women’s Basketball Secures No. 2 Spot in 2018-19 GAC Tournament

ARKADELPHIA, ARK. – With a 67-65 victory at Henderson State, the East Central University women's basketball team claimed the No. 2 spot in the 2018-19 Great American Conference Championship Tournament.

Scoring
  • First Quarter: 23-9
    • The Tigers (21-7, 16-6 GAC) went on a 10-4 run in the first three minutes before allowing the Reddies (18-10, 13-9 GAC) to score a field goal
    • ECU finished the stanza on a 13-5 run
  • Second Quarter: 13-12 (36-21)
    • HSU fought back in the first 3:30 minutes, with a 7-0 run (23-16)
    • Over the next five minutes the Tigers pushed the lead to 15 (34-18), with an 11-2 run
  • Third Quarter: 13-25 (49-46)
    • The Reddies did not allow ECU to score a field goal in the first six minutes
      • Went on a 15-3 run to cut the deficit to three (39-36)
    • All but five (ECU 2/HSU 3) of the remaining 20 points were scored at the free-throw line
    • The Tigers increased the lead to 10 (48-38), with two minutes left
    • HSU finished the stanza on an 8-1 run to cut the lead to three
  • Fourth Quarter: 18-19
    • The Reddies continued the run to 10-1, in the first minute, to get within one (49-48)
    • The pressure continued with HSU tying the game at 52, with 7:36 remaining
    • The teams traded shots to a 57-all tie, with 5:44 left to play
    • The Tigers then went on a 4-0 run in the next two minutes to lead by four
    • The Reddies kept up the pressure and tied the game at 65 with 25 seconds left to play
      • 8-4 run
    • So. Madison Rehl then hit a layup with six seconds left to gain the two-point lead
