Volleyball Face Northwestern in First GAC Match of 2019

ALVA, Okla. – The East Central University volleyball team played its first Great American Conference match of the season, falling to Northwestern Oklahoma State 3-1 (28-26, 15-25, 18-25, 16-25).

Scoring
  • Set One: W, 28-26
    • The Rangers (6-4, 1-0 GAC) jumped out to a 7-3 advantage, but the Tigers (0-10, 0-1 GAC) kept the set close
    • ECU used a 4-2 run to tie the set at 16
    • The teams traded points to force extra points before the Tigers earned the two-point win
      • Final two points came on a service error by the Rangers and a kill by Kaitlyn Coffey
  • Set Two: L, 15-25
    • The Tigers took an early 4-1 advantage
    • The Rangers fought back to tie the set at eight
    • The teams traded points until an 11-all tie
    • NWOSU was then able to take control of the set for good with a 6-0 run
  • Set Three: L, 18-25
    • The Rangers took an early 4-1 advantage
    • The Tigers fought back with a 4-0 run to take a 5-4 lead
    • The set remained close with several tie scores until NWOSU uses a 2-0 run to take an 18-16 advantage
    • The advantage was enough for the Rangers to claim the win
  • Set Four: L, 16-25
    • The teams traded the first eight serves
    • NWOSU then used a 9-1 run to take control of the set for good

  • Sr. Kaitlyn Coffey recorded her first (and the team's second) double-double of the season
