Volleyball Finishes Day One at OBU Invitational

SHAWNEE, Okla. – The East Central University volleyball team finished the first day of the OBU Invitational, falling to Southwest Baptist and William Jewell, 3-0.

Scoring
  • Set One: L, 21-25
    • The Bearcats (2-7) took an early 5-1 led
    • The Tigers (0-13) followed with a 4-0 run to tie the set at five
    • SBU again went ahead by five (10-5)
    • ECU went on a 11-2 run to take a 16-12 advantage
    • The set was then tied again at 16 and 17
    • The Bearcats then used a 4-0 run to take control for good
  • Set Two: L, 23-25
    • The set was tight from start to finish
    • 16 tie scores, 10 lead changes
  • Set Three: L, 20-25
    • The teams traded runs in the start, resulting in a tie at four
    • SBU then took control and didn't let the Tigers get closer than one point the rest of the set

    • 9 tie scores, 3 lead changes
    • Set was a tight battle at the start, until a 13-all tie
    • William Jewell then used a 4-1 run to take control of the set
  • Set Two: L, 12-25
    • The Cardinals (3-6) look an early 4-0 advantage and never let the Tigers get closer than three
  • Set Three: L, 17-25
    • ECU jumped out to an early 5-1 advantage
    • William Jewell followed with a 5-1 run to tie the set at six
    • The Cardinals continued the run to 9-2 to take control for good
