Volleyball Battles at Southwestern

WEATHERFORD, Okla. -  The East Central University volleyball team finished up a 15-match road trip at the start of the 2019 season, with a 3-1 (19-25, 25-19, 13-25, 18-25) loss at Southwestern Oklahoma State in Great American Conference action.

Scoring
  • Set One: L, 19-25
    • Teams traded points and a few runs to start the set
      • 8 tie scores, 1 lead change
    • The final tie came at 12-all
    • The Bulldogs (5-6, 1-1 GAC) then went on a 3-0 run to take control for good
    • The Tigers kept the score within two or three points for most of the set
  • Set Two: W, 25-19
    • Set close at first, with a 6-5 lead for SWOSU
    • ECU then took control with a 7-0 run for a 13-6 advantage
    • The Tigers kept the lead to no lower than three points the rest of the set
  • Set Three: L, 13-25
    • The Bulldogs jumped out to an early 4-0 advantage and never let up on the tempo of the match
    • Increased the lead to double digits on the way to the win
  • Set Four: L, 18-25
    • SWOSU again took over early, taking a 7-2 led
    • Kept up the pressure and had the lead out to as many as 10
    • The Tigers held of three match points
