Talley Moves Up to No. 3 on ECU Scoring Lists

ARKADELPHIA, Ark. – The East Central University men's basketball team fell just short in a back-and-forth battle at Henderson State, 73-70.

Scoring
  • 1st Half: 31-37
    • The teams traded shots IN the first 3 minutes for a 5-all tie
    • The Reddies (13-4, 8-3 GAC) then went on a 4-0 run to take a small lead
    • The teams traded shots again for the next 4 minutes before a 4-0 run by the Tigers (12-5, 6-5 GAC) tied the game at 15
    • The teams traded runs through the rest of the half, with a final 7-2 run, in the final 2 minutes, by HSU gave then the advantage heading into halftime
  • 2nd Half:
    • ECU opened the half on a 9-2 run in the first 3 minutes to take a 40-39 lead
    • No team made a basket for the next 2 minutes
      • The Tigers went 3-of-3 at the free throw line and HSU went 1-of-2
    • ECU pushed the lead out to 3, with 13:30 minutes left in the half before the Reddies fought back
      • HSU used a 13-2 run to take a 57-50, with 9 minutes left in the stanza
    • The Tigers fought back and used a 10-2 run over the next 3:30 minutes to take a 60-59 lead
    • The Reddies followed with a 4-0 run to regain the lead and never let ECU get closer than 2 until the final minute
    • With 1:13 left, the Tigers went on a 3-0 run at the free-throw line to get within one
    • HSU was then able to make a layup, with 10 seconds left, to push the advantage out to 3
