Men’s Basketball Plays in Fourth Overtime Game of 2019-20

SHAWNEE, Okla. – The East Central University men's basketball team fell just short in their fourth overtime game of the 2019-20 season, falling at Oklahoma Baptist 99-96.

Scoring
  • 1st Half: 40-37
    • The teams traded shots for the first three minutes
    • The Tigers (16-8, 10-8 GAC) then went on a 17-3 run over the next six minutes to take an 18-8 advantage
    • ECU kept the advantage around 10 for the next 6:30 minutes
    • The Bison (16-8, 11-7 GAC) then went on a 5-0 run to cut the deficit to 6 (36-30)
    • The lead was kept around 6 until the final two minutes
    • OBU then used a 4-0 run to cut the disadvantage to 3 at the half
  • 2nd Half: 47-50 (87-87)
    • The Bison continued their run into the second half to 7-0 to take a 42-40 lead
    • The teams traded shots over the next 2 minutes
    • OBU then pulled farther ahead with a 5-0 run over the next minute (52-46)
    • The Tigers countered with a 7-2 run in the next three minutes to get within 1 (53-54) and then pushed it to a 12-4 run in the next two minutes to take a 58-56 lead
    • The game was quickly tied and the teams traded shots until 8:45 remained in the stanza
    • The Bison then used an 8-2 run to take a 73-67 advantage
    • The teams traded 3's over the next 1:30 minutes before a 4-0 run by ECU got them back within 2 (74-76), with 5 minutes left
    • The teams again traded shots over the next two minutes before the Tigers were able to tie the game at 83, with a 4-0 run
    • OBU hit 2 free throws with 56 seconds remaining to go up 87-85
    • The Bison then missed 2 free throws with 25 seconds left on the clock
    • Sr. Bishop Coulter then hit a layup, with 7 seconds remaining to tie the game at 87
    • OBU had one more chance to score, but Sr. Jalan Brown block the shot to force the extra time

    • The Bison then went on a 6-0 run in the next minute to take a 99-93, with 35 seconds left
