Women’s Basketball Takes Down Southwestern

ADA, Okla. – The East Central University women's basketball team earned a 79-69 victory over Southwestern Oklahoma State, in a Great American Conference game at the Kerr Activities Center.

Scoring
  • 1st Quarter: 17-18
    • The Tigers (5-16, 3-12 GAC) started the game on a 5-0 run, in the first 2:30 minutes
    • The Bulldogs quickly tied the game at 5 in the next 30 seconds
    • The teams traded shots and small runs all the way through the stanza
      • A three-pointer by SWOSU made the difference in the score
  • 2nd Quarter: 16-13 (33-31)
    • The Bulldogs pushed the lead to three (20-17) in the first 10 seconds of the quarter
    • ECU followed with a 5-0 run to take a 22-20 advantage over the next minute
    • SWOSU quickly tied the game at 22 before another 6-0 Tiger run gave them the lead back (28-22), with 6:30 left to play

    • ECU started the half on a 7-0 run to gain a 40-31 advantage in the first three minutes
    • The Tigers continued the run to 10-2 in the next 1:30 minutes to give either team their first double-digit lead (43-33) of the game
    • In the next 2:30 minutes the Bulldogs went on an 8-2 run to cut the deficit to four (45-41)
    • ECU then used an 11-3 run to end the quarter
      • SWOSU was held scoreless until the final 30 seconds
  • 4th Quarter: 23-25 (79-69)
    • The Tigers kept the lead around 10 for the first 1:30 minutes
    • The Bulldogs countered with a 5-0 run in the next minute to cut the deficit to 5
      • Continued the run to 9-2, until 6 minutes remained, to push the disadvantage to 3
    • ECU followed with a 4-0 run in the next minute to push the lead back to 7
    • The Tigers kept the lead around 7 until 3 minutes were left on the clock
    • The Bulldogs used a 6-1 run in the next 1:30 minutes to cut the lead to 1 (70-69)
    • ECU then ended the game on a 9-0 run for the win
